My first interaction with Sydney was when we planned the NES/SES Winter Congress convention. Immediately upon working with her, I noticed her punctuality, intelligence, and leadership. As we vetted bills for approval, Sydney was able to spot bills that had Constitutional flaws or discrepancies within them. She was able to discuss bills related to current issues with keen accuracy. Within the group of Directors of Debate, Sydney took a leadership role and was instrumental in the organization and execution of Winter Congress. I can’t imagine a better governor for the SES!

Daniel Westphal (NES Director of Debate)

Sydney is a motivated and diligent individual. From editing bills to running amendments and everything in between, she’s always ready to do the job and do it well. I couldn’t have asked for a better SES counterpart this Winter Congress, and I know she’ll do an awesome job in any leadership position. Sydney is a great communicator, very personable, and full of excitement. It’s hard to work with people from another region, but she made it easy and fun. I look forward to watching her progress in the future!

Sam Farbman (NES Director of Debate)

Rarely in my life will I meet someone so dedicated, motivated, and passionate about what they do. I find all three of those characteristics in Sydney Edwards. I have known her for three years now and I am still blown away by her intelligence. Her ability to understand everything she talks about, how organized she is, and most importantly how loving and caring Sydney is. On multiple occasions Sydney has shown her high IQ and crucial organizational skills: whether it was as a Debate agent working hard to organize the debate structures of conventions or even teaching and developing youth debaters in our own chapter. When given a task Sydney takes initiative and leads. The Southeast needs a governor who will take charge on day 1 and lead the region on a path of greatness. The choice is clear, greatness or allow the Southeast to fall into an abyss of mediocrity among the other regions. I have seen governors come and go and make little to no change. The time for change is now, the time for greatness is now, and the time to rise to the occasion and elect Sydney Edwards as your next governor is now. With this I hereby with every ounce of love and respect I have for her, fully endorse Sydney Edwards as your next Governor.

Alessio Luna (Frm. SES Director of Debate)

Sydney is one of the most dedicated members of JSA that I know. While we worked on preparing for Winter Congress 2019, she would always ensure that we were on schedule and consistently accomplishing our goals, which are crucial skills for the governor of a JSA state. Moreover, as we worked together in the debate department she had countless good ideas that were communicated and implemented efficiently. I believe that her distinctive ideas set her apart from other gubernatorial candidates. These unique attributes make Sydney the best candidate for governor of the SES and the best candidate to change JSA for the better.

Dev Arbeiter (NES Debate Agent)

I got a chance to meet and work alongside Sydney at Winter Congress as we were both a part of the joint cabinet for Winter Congress. Leading up to the convention, Sydney put in a ton of work with the debate department helping with choosing, finalizing, and formatting of the bills. At the convention itself, Sydney went above and beyond her calling. She stayed in the bill room to help me with managing and directing the chairs so all the debates flowed. She didn’t have to since most of her jobs were on the debate/bill side, but she choose to help me because of who she is as a person. She didn’t do it out of attention or recognition. A critical component of being a governor is being someone who is passionate and committed to JSA. There are moments as a governor where you aren’t recognized for all of the effort you put forth, but Sydney does not mind that at all. Through working with her at Winter Congress, I could see that she meets all the values a governor needs. I do not think there is anyone better who could help the SES succeed!
